As far as I can see and as far as my brain can stretch, there is only one real reason to get married: So that two committed adults can raise children within the context of a loving and accepting environment.
Only within the context of that commitment, and a closed back door, can a woman even hope to contribute to society, teach her children anything of real value, develop her character, etc. Without it, none of the above are true. And…you are never really ready to be a wife or mother. Becoming a married woman gets you ready for marriage and becoming a mother get your ready for the responsibilities of motherhood. That is the crux of it all. Risking and taking a chance to see whether you can pull it off gives you the courage to tread in those unfamiliar areas.
