“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.”
– Audrey Hepburn, actress.

I’m sure we’ve all encountered that girl in high school that radiated confidence, the boys wanted to date her and the girls wanted to be her. Most women have certain icons or other women in their life that they look up to because there is something they yearn to identify with. There is an aspect of that person that inspires you to be your very best. Usually, as a result of this; women tend to copy that persons outward characteristics and style choices. The catch here is: what drives one woman to be confident is not always what is going to drive other women to be confident. Borrowed confidence is never the key, because eventually it must be returned. Personal confidence comes from the inside.  The clothing you choose to wear should be an outward expression of your inner confidence. It should be an expression of your personality, hobbies, social activities, lifestyle, and personal or professional goals.

A mistake that women make, which tends to start during the teenage years, is choosing to follow trends because it is considered “fashionable.” If I can highlight only one thing, it is that trends very rarely translate as “fashionable” to anyone outside of the realm that wears it, and almost never compliments the average female body type. So, instead -choose something that looks good on you, the individual. Avoid trendy garments and shop for garments that will stand the test of time.  Make sure your choices are made based on your image and not the image of your icon.  At the end of the day, dress for yourself and no one else. I’m not saying, throw out all the style tips you may have already learned or dye your hair pink but forget about what the magazines are telling you to wear and go investigate yourself!

The women I see walking down the street that exudes the most confidence comes in all shapes and sizes.  She is not wearing trendy garments but knows how to dress for her body. What you wear should represent you in the most successful and flattering way possible, because the time you put into your upkeep says a lot about how you feel about yourself.  If you take the time to put together a well gathered and unique look for you, it sends a positive and powerful message to those around you. When you can identify and feel comfortable in your clothes, it shows and immediately emanates confidence.  Others will easily identify with the confidant message you are sending through your personal appearance.. And remember, you are not the only one wondering if the latest trend is something you should be wearing- so, “Walk with the knowledge that you are never alone,” and don’t be afraid to ask questions!
